Creamy White Sauce
When you use Origin Earth Full Milk to make a white sauce the resulting sauce is rich and creamy – it’s so delicious you might even think you have used cream! This recipe makes a thick sauce such as you would use when making lasagne - for a thinner sauce reduce the quantity of flour or increase the amount of milk you use.
Makes about 1½ cups
50g butter
3 tbsp plain flour
1½ cups Origin Earth Full Milk
pinch freshly ground nutmeg
salt and freshly ground black or white pepper
1 Melt butter in saucepan over a medium heat, whisk in flour and cook, whisking for 1-2 minutes.
2 Slowly whisk in milk and continue whisking until sauce boils and thickens. Season to taste with a grating of nutmeg and a grind of salt and pepper.
Variations
Cheese Sauce: Stir in grated Origin Earth Takenga Gold, Takenga Smoked, Sleeping Giant or Pecorino cheese
Herb Sauce: Stir in your choice of fresh chopped herbs such as parsley, coriander, chives, fennel or tarragon.
